Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck. They’ve talked about their experiences, practiced coping skills, and made progress - but something still feels unresolved deep inside. That’s where Brainspotting can make a powerful difference.
As a certified Brainspotting therapist, I use this approach to help clients process trauma, anxiety, and emotional wounds in a way that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. Brainspotting works with both the mind and body, helping you release what’s been held beneath the surface so you can move toward real healing.
What Is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy discovered by Dr. David Grand. It’s based on the idea that the position of your eyes is linked to stored memories, emotions, and body sensations. By focusing on specific “brainspots,” we can access where trauma, stress, or unresolved experiences are held in the brain and nervous system.
Rather than forcing yourself to relive the past, Brainspotting allows the brain and body to process naturally - at your own pace and with the support of a trained therapist.
How Does It Work?
During a session, we work together to identify a spot in your visual field connected to the issue you want to process. While holding gentle focus on that spot, you’re guided to notice what comes up in your body and emotions. This opens the door for deep processing and release.
Many clients describe Brainspotting as:
- A way to access and release emotions they didn’t realize they were carrying.
- A gentle but powerful process that doesn’t require talking through every detail.
- A healing method that helps them feel lighter, calmer, and more grounded.
Who Can Benefit from Brainspotting?
Brainspotting can be helpful for people experiencing:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression
- Chronic stress or overwhelm
- Grief and loss
- Performance blocks (work, sports, creativity)
Why I Use Brainspotting in My Practice
For many women I work with - especially first-generation, Latinx, and BIPOC clients - trauma is not just personal, but also cultural and generational. Brainspotting creates space to honor these experiences without having to re-explain or re-live them.
It’s not about “fixing” you - it’s about giving your brain and body the chance to heal in the way they already know how. My role is to guide you with compassion, safety, and respect for your pace and your story.
